The Car

We were long thinking about what car we would need for a road trip like that. We considered all options of buying, renting, importing a car etc.
We ended up with a Brazilian pickup truck, which we considered to be the best option for what we intend to do with it.
First of all it seems that the double-cabin version of these type of cars has a reputation to be more reliable than the estate-type of model. For a road trip like that we decided to prepare the car to be suitable for long-distance travel though South America:
  • We have two spare wheels with us and tools to do minor repairs and wheel changes.
  • Furthermore two jerrycans in case we are running short of diesel
  • A tow bar and two breakdown triangles, which are mandatory in Argentina
  • Some spare fuses and light bulbs (as well in yellow for Argentina)
  • and a protection grating for the headlamps.

    Das Auto


    Wir haben lange darüber nachgedacht, was für ein Auto für eine solche Rese sinnvoll wäre. Wir haben alle Alternatieven von kaufen, leihen, importieren berücksichtigt.
    Zum Schluss haben wir und für einen Geländewagen mit Doppelkabine brasilianischer Produktion entschieden.
    Allem Anschein nach sind die Doppelkabine Geländewagen mit Ladefläche robuster gebaut al die Limosienenversion. Nichts desto trotz musste der Wagen noch für unsere Reise noch weiter ausgerüstet werden:
  • Wir haben zwei Reserverreifen mit uns und Werkzeug für Reifenwechsel und kleine pannen.
  • Des weiteren haben wir zwei Reservekanister mit uns um unsere Autonomie zu vergrössern.
  • Eine Abschleppstange und zwei Warndreiecke sind pflicht in Argentinien.
  • Ein paar extra Sicherungen und Ersatzlampen (auch in gelb für Argentinien)
  • Und zum Schluss ein Schutzgitter für die Scheinwerfer gegen Steinschlag.

    Samochód


    Długo zastanawialiśmy się nad odpowiednim samochodem na naszą podróż. Mieliśmy też na liście różne opcje jak kupno, wynajęcie, a nawet import samochodu z Europy.
    W końcu stanęło na samochodzie terenowym typu ‘pick-up truck’, który wydał się nam najbardziej odpowiednią opcją na naszą podróż. Postawiliśmy na wersję z podwójną kabiną, która ma lepszą reputację niż model kombi.
    Przed podróżą samochód musiał być odpowiednio przygotowany na długą trasę przez Amerykę Południową:
  • dwie zapasowe opony plus narzędzia do drobnych napraw i wymiany opon
  • dwa karnistry, żeby zawsze mieć ze sobą zapasowe paliwo
  • hol sztywny i dwa trójkąty ostrzgawcze, które są wymagane w Argentynie
  • kilka zapasowych bezpieczników i żarówek (żółte przednie światła są wymagane w Argentynie)
  • okratowanie ochronne na przednie światła

    O carro


    O processo de escolher um carro para uma viagem como esta não é fácil e estávamos considerando todas opções de comprar o carro, alugar ou importá-lo.
    Resolvemos de comprar um carro junto com o nosso amigo no Brasil e acabamos de ficar com uma camionete de cabine dubla.
    Aparece que este tipo de carro é mais viável do que a versão de limusine. Além disso o carro estava também ser preparado para a nossa viagem longa de América do Sul:
  • Primeiro temos duas rodas de reserva e as ferramentas para trocar os pneus
  • Ainda mis temos dois tanques de diesel de reserva para ser mais autônomo
  • Um guincho e dois triângulos de pane que é mandatário na argentina
  • Uns parafusos e lâmpadas de reserva (também em cor de amarela para a Argentina)
  • E proteção de faróis para evitar quebra nas estradas de rípio.
